Discuss answers with a partner and as a class. |
Step 4:
Take out culture icebergs and add aspects of culture to the iceberg based on the video or new thoughts. Make sure students explain what the aspect is as well as why it is placed where it is.

The Danger of a Single Story
Chimamanda Adichie is a Nigerian writer and reading enthusiast who has learned over the years the power stories have, both positive and negative. In this video, listen to her explain this power of stories and take note of what she cautions us against.
1. How is Adichie's story different from that of the men from Sudan?
2. What is "the danger of a single story?" 3. According to her editor, why were Adichie's characters in her story not considered "authentically African?" What is wrong with this thinking? 4.
