Below you will find a foundational lesson plan that follows the same structure as every other story on this website. The only difference in this plan are the cultural concepts employed:
"Superstition" - "Emotions" - "Community"
Extension activities are placed at the bottom of this page should you seek opportunities to change things up or take the learning further.

Character Iceberg (whole class)
- Put the seats in a semi-circle
- Students present their character iceberg charts from Day 4 to the class and explain how each of this lesson's cultural concepts impacted their character.
- As a class, ask other students for additional observations. Allow students to agree or disagree with where the presenting group placed the cultural concepts in the character's iceberg.
- Have students respond to the following questions in their notebook:
- Based on the cultural concepts, what makes me similar to each character?
- Based on the cultural concepts, what makes me different from each character?
- Which character do I connect the most with in relation to this story? Why?
- What is Myers trying to show through this story? Explain.
- What have I learned about my culture and that of others through this story?
