Discuss answers with a partner and as a class. |
Step 4:
Take out culture icebergs and add aspects of culture to the iceberg based on the video or new thoughts. Make sure students explain what the aspect is as well as why it is placed where it is.

Cultural Differences: An Introduction
The video below follows a group of Sudanese refugees who are brought to America. They are thrown into a culture completely different from what they are used to.
1. How are the values of these Sudanese people different from the values of Americans? 2. How do you think the Sudanese people felt in America? Explain. 3. One of the Sudanese men says, "It's a great shame, actually." What does he mean by this? 4. What misconceptions are Americans likely to have about the people in this video? 5. How does this video translate to your interactions with people on an every day basis? |
